Abstract

The pharmaceutical industry of 1990 is dramatically larger, more powerful, and more efficient than in 1970. Looking back to 1950, the industry had very little beyond antibiotics to sell. The next two decades are likely to see change that is greater than during the last four. That much change is often hard to imagine.
