Abstract
As the name implies, dynamic light scattering analyses the temporal behaviour of light scattered by a sample fluid, enabling a number of properties of the sample to be determined. The theoretical foundations of this method were layed in the beginning of the century; but the high resolution required to detect and measure the small frequency shifts and narrow spectral linewidths of the scattered light imposed stringent demands on both the light source and detection system.
