Abstract

Eukaryotic cells contain a variety of transplasma membrane redox activities some of which have been related to control of cell growth (Crane et a1.,1985). Both iron-containing oxidants and ascorbate free radical (AFR) are reduced by the transplasma membrane electron transport and stimulate cell growth (Sun el al., 1985; Alcaín et al., 1990). These two activities do not necessarily represent the same via of electron transport. In fact, we show here different properties between NADH-AFR reductase and NADH ferricyanide (FeCN) reductase.
