Abstract

Many aspects of a general theory of fluctuations can be guessed by studying a special, simple case — namely the behaviour of a spherical inhomogeneity in an expanding Friedmann universe filled with dust, i.e. zero-pressure matter.

“Worlds on worlds are rolling ever

From creation to decay

Like the bubbles on a river”

Sparkling, bursting, borne away.”
