Abstract
Phase equilibria between mineral end-members and a pure fluid is a limiting case of solid-fluid equilibria in nature. Nevertheless, in the step by step approach adopted in this book, we shall handle this simple case as a prelude to elucidating the more demanding topic of mineral-fluid equilibria in multicomponent systems (Chap. 9). The objective of this chapter is to calculate phase relations between mineral end-members and a pure fluid, such as water or oxygen. Other fluids will be amenable to treatment in an analogous manner.
