Abstract
This chapter provides an overview of the baseline data on noncommunicable diseases and risk factor levels in the CINDI countries. Two types of data are given: mortality statistics and survey data on risk factors for major noncommunicable diseases (elevated blood pressure, elevated serum cholesterol, smoking and elevated body mass index). They represent the essential core evaluation indicators that have been collected for all the participating CINDI countries and centres.
