Abstract
In the past few decades a variety of disorders of amino acid and organic acid metabolism has been described with major implications for the developing nervous system. Organic acids include fatty acids, ketoacids, a number of other endogenous and exogenous acids, and, strictly speaking, also amino acids. However, in medicine, it is usual to separate amino acids from the other organic acids.
