Zusammenfassung
Die Entwicklung arteriosklerotischer Intimaläsionen geht mit einem morphologischen Bild einher, daß in vielen Aspekten dem einer Entzündungsreaktion ähnlich ist. Kennzeichnend hierfür sind zwei Hauptelemente des arteriosklerotischen Plaques: die Proliferation glatter Gefäßmuskelzellen und das Vorkommen zahlreicher Makrophagen innerhalb der Läsion [1]. Den sichtbaren morphologischen Veränderungen liegt eine komplexe Interaktion lokaler Gewebsfaktoren zugrunde, die den Ablauf der in der Gefäßwand stattfindenden Umbauvorgänge bestimmen. Die Kenntnis dieser den Gewebsumbau innerhalb der Intima verursachenden Faktoren, sowie ihrer Wirkungen und ihrer Regulation ist daher von großer Bedeutung für das Verständnis der Entwicklung arteriosklerotischer Läsionen.
