Abstract

In Chapter 4 various theoretical models for the study of the accumulation of residual stresses in tree stems due to growth stresses induced in new growth increments at the periphery were developed. Over the past 50 years, experiments have been carried out which have attempted to discover the magnitude and internal distribution of these stresses.
