Abstract

Plastic materials, as well as the IF’s, based on poly(phenylene oxide) (PPO) are characterized by good impact strength, high thermal resistance and incombustibility. All commercial grades of PPO are modified with PS, enhancing appreciably the flexural modulus of the material. The most popular commercial grade of IF based on PPO is the “Noryl” family, which was developed and produced by General Electric, both in USA and in West Europe, at the beginning of 1970’s.
