Abstract

The main constituents of the arbutin drugs are arbutin (hydroquinone-β-O-glucoside) and methylarbutin, with small amounts of 2-O-galloyl-arbutin, 6-O-acetyl-arbutin and free hydroquinone. The presence of gallo- and ellagotannins is also characteristic of these drugs.
