Summary

Nowaday it is quite natural to use microprocessors in Ultrasonic testing machines.

In this paper it is shown that you get also benefit in portable equipment from the use of more complex procedures.

Menu-like control, text, and numbers offer easy and clear-cut operation. Digital feed back loops increase the stability and testing routines enhance the reliability.

New applications are created in data acquisition, documentation, and by support of semiautomatic procedures.

A fully digitalized flaw detector is described, which is at present in a prototype state and which offers all these features.
