Abstract

As we have discussed in Sect.3.7, Abrikosov first predicted the existence of the vortex state in superconducting materials with \(\kappa > 1/\sqrt 2 \). In type-II superconductors magnetic flux penetrates the material in the form of flux lines, each carrying a single flux quantum φ0. Usually the flux lines are arranged in the form of a triangular flux-line lattice. This distribution of magnetic flux is referred to as the mixed state.
