Die Größe der durch eine bestimmte Wärmemenge erzeugten Arbeit oder umgekehrt der durch eine bestimmte Arbeit erzeugten Wärmemenge bleibt stets dieselbe, unabhängig von dem Wege, auf dem das eine durch das andere entstanden ist. Wärme und Arbeit sind gleichwertig.
