Zusammenfassung
Mineralien mit größeren Gehalten an Cadmium treten nur vereinzelt auf; als wichtigste sind zu nennen der Greenoockit (CdS) und der Otavit (ein basisches Cadmiumcarbonat mit etwa 61,5% Cd). Die Hauptmenge des technisch gewonnenen Cadmiums fällt bei der Verarbeitung der Zinkerze an, welchen es als Sulfid beigemengt ist.
