Abstract
Penile erection is a vascular event under the control of the autonomic nervous system which regulates both vasodilator and vasoconstrictor responses [40]. Unlike other visceral structures, neural input to the sex organs is essential for proper function. Any interruption of neural pathways or disorders affecting the neuroeffector junction can produce impotence.
