Zusammenfassung
Die Computer-Tomographie (CT) wurde von G. Hounsfield et al. [6] realisiert, nachdem Jahre vorher durchgeführte theoretische Vorarbeiten von Oldendorf und Cormack [9, 2] wenig Beachtung gefunden hatten. 1972 wurden die ersten Untersuchungen des Gehirnes mit einem Gerät der EMI von Ambrose [1] in Vorträgen und 1973 schriftlich vorgestellt. Im Juni 1974 wurde ein von der Siemens AG entwickeltes Gerät als erstes in Deutschland in meiner Abteilung in Betrieb genommen. Inzwischen hatte eine Gruppe am National Institute of Health, Washington, den Schritt zum Ganzkörper-Computer-Tomographen getan; dieses Gerät ist jetzt als Actascanner bekannt. Seitdem hat eine überstürzende technische Entwicklung eingesetzt, die von einer großen Zahl konkurrierender Hersteller rasch vorangetrieben wird.
