Die Lithiumprophylaxe affektiver Psychosen

Zusammenfassung

Lithium ist seit Jahrzehnten als wirksames Mittel zur Behandlung akuter manischer Erkrankungen bekannt, denn es besitzt sedative Eigenschaften. Bei depressiven Syndromen angewendet hat es jedoch keinen gesicherten therapeutischen Einfluß, obwohl ihm von einigen Untersuchern auch eine gewisse antidepressive Wirkung zugeschrieben wird [6, 8]. Bisher spricht nur wenig dafür, daß durch regelmäßiges Einnehmen von Thymoleptica im gesunden Intervall depressive oder auch manische Phasen verhindert werden können. Thymoleptica können wahrscheinlich nur auf die manifesten psychopathologischen Symptome Einfluß nehmen [2].
