How to Supply Utilities to a Coal-to-Methanol Plant
It is not only for the sake of completeness but also because they account for a major portion of energy demand and capital investment costs that this description should include also those utility production and conditioning units which are commonly termed offsites. Most coal gasification plants need oxygen, and the units to produce this oxygen consume a great deal of energy and, because of their very special technology, are frequently included among the process units. A great deal of attention has therefore been attributed to air separation units used for the production of oxygen and nitrogen.
