Summary
The purpose of this paper is two fold. Firstly to illustrate the application of stereological methods and sampling procedures for determining feature volume and surface area from Magnetic Resonance, MR, data sets, and secondly to highlight the problem that overprojection effects pose in obtaining these quantities. The computer provides a convenient machine for interactive application of the stereological tools and potentially can be programmed to perform the mensuration completely automatically.
