Zusammenfassung
Unter Epilepsie im engeren Sinne fassen wir diejenigen Erkrankungen mit anfallsartigen Störungen zusammen, bei denen epileptische Anfälle chronisch rezidivieren; erweiterte Begriffsbestimmungen enthalten daneben auch akute epileptische Reaktionen (sog. Gelegenheitsanfälle, z. B. bei Schlafentzug, Fieber, Streß, Infekt). Im deutschsprachigen Raum existieren z. T. sehr unterschiedliche Einteilungen der Epilepsie. Die international verwendete Klassifikation epileptischer Anfälle, die sich in der BRD zunehmend durchgesetzt hat, ist in vereinfachter Form aus Tabelle 6.1 ersichtlich (Einteilung nach klinischen Anfallsbildern, in erweiterter Form mit Berücksichtigung der EEG-Befunde). An einigen Stellen haben wir die älteren klinisch orientierten Anfallsbegriffe nach dem Heidelberger Schema hinzugefügt.
