Zusammenfassung
Das Prinzip der sonographischen Bildwiedergabe ist seit langem bekannt (McDicken 1981; Shirley et al. 1978). Ein Ultraschallwandler wird, angeregt durch einen kurzen elektrischen Impuls, in einen Ultraschallimpuls umgewandelt. Dieser Impuls breitet sich mit einer für das Medium charakteristischen Gewindigkeit entlang der optischen Achse des Schallkopfes aus. Trifft ein Impuls auf eine Trennfläche (Grenzfläche zweier Medien unterschiedlicher Dichte z.B. Fett/Muskulatur), so wird ein Teil seiner Energie reflektiert, vom Schallkopf wieder aufgenommen und in ein elektrisches Signal zurückgewandelt. Da es nur sehr klein ist, muß das Echo vom Gerät verstärkt werden, bevor es geometriegerecht auf der Zeile eines Sichtgerätes wiedergegeben werden kann.
