Zusammenfassung
Unter der Gewebsatmung versteht man den Atemgaswechsel innerhalb eines Zellverbandes bei der biologischen Oxidation der Nährstoffe Der Sauerstoff wird von den Zellen aus dem Capillarblut aufgenommen und im oxidativen Stoffwechsel verbraucht, während gleichzeitig das als Stoffwechselendprodukt freigesetzte Kohlendioxid an das Capillarblut abgegeben wird. Der Begriff Gewebsatmung wird hier weiter gefaßt als in vielen Lehrbüchern der Biochemie, in denen die Gewebsatmung als oxidativer Abbau der Nährstoffe unter Beteiligung von molekularem Sauerstoff definiert ist. Da ein O2-Mangel in den Geweben in stärkerem Maße als ein unzureichender CO2-Abtransport den oxidativen Zellstoffwechsel begrenzt, sollen die Fragen der O2-Versorgung der Gewebe bei der Darstellung der Gewebsatmung in den Vordergrund gestellt werden.
