Abstract

Transcription is DNA-directed RNA synthesis which yields RNA with a base sequence complementary to that of the DNA template. In this synthesis, RNA polymerase catalyzes the formation of internucleotide 3’ to 5’ phosphodiester bonds and thus plays a vital role in the transfer of information from DNA to RNA.
