Abstract
Today’s central banks are operating in an environment which differs fundamentally from that which was characteristic of the 1970s and 1980s. The international financial markets have undergone both a qualitatively and quantitatively rapid development, which has made decisions regarding financial and monetary policy distinctly more difficult.
