Zusammenfassung

Der Begriff „Hochfrequenzbeatmung“ (HFV) wird als deskriptives Synonym für eine Vielzahl in technischem Aufbau, Wirkungsmechanismen und Anwendungsweise oftmals sehr unterschiedliche Beatmungsverfahren angewendet. Als verbindende Charakteristika für diese Methoden können vorrangig angeführt werden:

  • hohe Frequenzbereiche (bis zum Vierfachen der Spontanatemfrequenz),

  • minimierte Einzelgasportionen (Tidalvolumina),

  • gänzlich oder zumindest partiell alternative Gastransportmechanismen.
