Zusammenfassung

Antigene sind Substanzen, die nach parenteraler Aufnahme in den Organismus einer anderen Species die Bildung von Antikörpern in Gang setzen und mit Antikörpern reagieren können. Antigene sind gewöhnlich Proteine, aber auch Polysaccharide und Polypeptide können als komplette Antigene wirken. Lipide und Nucleinsäuren sind nur dann als Antigene wirksam, wenn sie an Proteine gebunden sind.
