Zusammenfassung

Mehr als 25 verschiedene Viren sind in der Gruppe der Herpesviren zusammengefaßt. Sie enthalten alle einen Innenkörper aus doppelsträngiger DNS und einen Proteinmantel, der die Symmetrie eines Ikosaeders zeigt und der wiederum von einer Hülle umgeben ist. Diese Hüllmembran enthält Lipide, so daß die Infektiosität empfindlich gegen Äther ist. Die Virushülle besitzt einen Durchmesser von 100–150 nm, das „nackte“ Virion von 100 nm und weist 162 Capsomere auf.
