Weltanschauungen. Visual Culture, Macht und Gegenmacht in den globalen Nord-Süd-Beziehungen

Zusammenfassung

Bilder prägen unser Wissen über Weltpolitik, unsere politische Meinung und Identitäten. Eine Perspektive des Zeigens, des Sehens und Gesehenwerdens kann die Analyse von Machtverhältnissen und Ideologievermittlung in der internationalen Politik erweitern. Der Beitrag stellt Ansätze aus dem Forschungsfeld der Visual Culture zum politischen Charakter von Alltagsbildern sowie dominanter und widerständiger globaler Bildkommunikation vor. Konkrete Anknüpfungspunkte für die IB bieten zwei Beispiele visueller Repräsentation aus den globalen Nord-Süd-Beziehungen (Spendenwerbung und Kartografie), die ungleiche Machtbeziehungen widerspiegeln und reproduzieren, aber auch für Neuerfindung und Widerstand gegen neo-koloniale Repräsentationspolitiken genutzt werden können.
