Zusammenfassung
Unter Multiratensystemen versteht man diskrete Systeme, in denen Teilsignale mit unterschiedlichen Abtastraten auftreten und verarbeitet werden. Beispiele sind Abtastratenumsetzer (zum Beispiel zur Anpassung der Abtastfrequenz zwischen verschiedenen Audiostandards) und Multiraten-Filterbänke für die Codierung oder die Datenübertragung. Bild 7.1 zeigt hierzu eine typische Multiraten-Filterbank mit Anwendungen in der Signalkompression. Das Eingangssignal wird dabei mittels einer Analysefilterbank, die aus parallel betriebenen Tief-, Band- und Hochpassfiltern besteht, in M sogenannte Teilbandsignale zerlegt, von denen jedes die Information über das Eingangssignal in einem bestimmten Frequenzband enthält. Nach der Filterung findet in jedem Teilband noch eine Abtastratenreduktion um einen ganzzahligen Faktor Νk ≥ 1 statt. Die Abwärtstaster sind in Bild 7.1 durch Blöcke mit nach unten gerichteten Pfeilen symbolisiert. Die Abtastratenreduktion dient in der Regel dazu, die in den M Teilbandsignalen enthaltene Redundanz zu reduzieren oder vollständig zu entfernen. Aufgrund der Abwärtstastung wird die Filterbank zum Multiratensystem. Da man nur dann damit rechnen kann, ein beliebiges Signal (n) aus unterabgetasteten Teilbandsignalen fehlerfrei zurückgewinnen zu können, wenn die Gesamtanzahl aller Teilband-Abtastwerte je Zeiteinheit größer oder gleich der Anzahl der Eingangswerte pro Zeiteinheit ist, spricht man bei einem Abtastratenverhältnis von μ = (1/N0+1=N1+. . .+1/NM-1) = 1 von einer kritischen Abtastung. Wählt man μ > 1, so ergibt sich eine Überabtastung. Für μ < 1 liegt eine Unterabtastung vor, und eine perfekte Rekonstruktion beliebiger Eingangssignale ist nicht mehr möglich.
