Zusammenfassung

Auf La Réunion, dem französischen Überseedepartment im südwestlichen Indischen Ozean, ist Musik eine besonders wichtige Ausdrucksform. Sie stimuliert ein Gefühl von Zugehörigkeit zu einer Inselgemeinschaft, die erst mit der Kolonisierung entstand. Sie weckt Erinnerungen der daraus hervorgegangenen kreolischen Bevölkerung an eine ferngelegene Heimat in Europa, Afrika oder Asien.
