Zusammenfassung
Professionsforschung und Professionstheorie waren ursprünglich Domänen der anglo-amerikanischen Professionssoziologie, die ihren Ursprung in vereinzelten Beiträgen vor und nach dem Ersten Weltkrieg hat (vgl. Mieg, 2016, S. 27). Als Klassiker der Professionssoziologie gilt «The Professions» von Carr-Saunders und Wilson (1933). Mit dem Essay «Is Social Work a Profession?» (Flexner, 1915/2001) gewannen professionstheoretische Fragestellungen auch in der Sozialen Arbeit an Bedeutung (vgl. Dewe & Otto, 2011a, S. 1131).
