Zusammenfassung
Die fortschreitende technologische Entwicklung führt dazu, dass die Leistungsfähigkeit von Produkten die Verwendung einer wachsenden Zahl an Elementen aus dem Periodensystem erfordert. Ausgehend von der Mechanisierung erfordern die Automatisierung und zuletzt die Digitalisierung eine Vielzahl von unterschiedlichen nicht-energetischen Rohstoffen, die den deutlichen Anstieg des Funktionsumfangs und der Leistungsfähigkeit von Produkten ermöglichen. Daher wächst die Bedeutung nicht-energetischer Rohstoffe für Unternehmen und die Weltwirtschaft seit langem.
