Zusammenfassung
Als Autismus werden altersunabhängige Defizite in der Gestaltung zwischenmenschlicher Beziehungen und Kommunikation (verbal und nonverbal) sowie eingeschränkte, sich wiederholende Verhaltensmuster, Interessen oder Aktivitäten bezeichnet. Diese Auffälligkeiten müssen ab der frühesten Kindheit das ganze Leben lang bestehen. Da die Anforderungen an Beziehungsgestaltung und Kommunikationsfähigkeiten sich in jeder Lebensphase unterscheiden, wandelt sich auch das Erscheinungsbild bzw. die Ausprägung autistischer Symptome. Als tief greifende Entwicklungsstörung handelt es sich um eine Störung des Säuglings- und Kleinkindalters mit langfristigen Folgen für die kindliche Entwicklung. Die qualifizierte Früherkennung ermöglicht eine individuell angemessene Betreuung und Förderung und beugt den Folgen unpassender pädagogischer Reaktionen und/oder anderen, sekundären psychischen und Verhaltensstörungen vor.
