Abstract

In the previous chapter, a family of eigenvalue range preserving numerical methods was developed for hyperbolic equations governing the evolution of symmetric tensor fields. Since the benchmarks considered in Section 5.6 are artificially constructed test problems, further analysis and additional numerical experiments are performed in this chapter to study the behavior of the proposed methods in practical applications. To motivate the need for using eigenvalue range preserving limiters, we apply them to orientation tensors that determine the rheological behavior of fiber suspension flows.
