Abstract

In this chapter, we derive the basic equations of fluid dynamics following Hirsch [Hir07]. The equations that describe the macroscopic behavior of the fluid are based on fundamental assumptions like the conservation of mass and momentum. Their derivation is based on the Eulerian point of view, where the behavior of a (scalar) quantity in a spatially fixed control volume is considered.
