Zusammenfassung
In 2014, a Syrian woman decided to rescue herself and her two children, an infant and a toddler, from the violence of the civil war. Once she arrived in Turkey, she boarded a smuggler’s worn-out boat at the port city of Mersin in order to apply for asylum in Italy. Early into the crossing, the woman’s infant fell ill and died shortly thereafter.
