Abstract
In this essay, some of the challenges of the development of extended education will be highlighted casting a brief look at the particular situation in Bavaria, and some approaches to solutions will be discussed. Then, a short overview of the support structure in the state of Bavaria will be given, a support structure especially intended to give schools and teachers assistance in coping with the growing educational opportunities and challenges. Finally, some new tools and concepts for all stages of teacher training and the training of extra-curricular personnel will be presented.
