Eine zentrale Annahme der US-amerikanischen Rechnungslegung ist der Grundsatz der Unternehmensfortführung (Going Concern-Annahme). Der Abschlussprüfer hat im Rahmen seiner Tätigkeit die Angemessenheit dieser Annahme zu beurteilen. Zudem muss er im Bestätigungsvermerk ggf. explizit auf erhebliche Zweifel am Unternehmensfortbestand (substantial doubt about the entity’s ability to continue as a going concern) hinweisen.
