Zusammenfassung
Was Projektmanagement beinhaltet, scheint auf den ersten Blick bekannt zu sein: Die Wahrnehmung der Aufgaben zur Initiierung, Planung, Durchführung, Überwachung und Beendigung von Projekten. Auf den zweiten Blick taucht jedoch in konkreten Fällen immer wieder die Frage auf, ob ein bestimmtes Vorhaben als ein „Projekt“, als eine „Aufgabe“ oder als ein „Fall“ definiert und organisiert werden soll. Denn damit sind jeweils unterschiedliche Aufwände für das Management verbunden. Daher soll hier zunächst der Begriff des Projekts nochmals kritisch hinterfragt werden (Abschn. 2.1). Darauf aufbauend werden dann die definierten Aufgaben des Projektmanagements, wie sie in Normen und Standards kodifiziert sind, zusammenfassend rekapituliert (Abschn. 2.2). Von besonderem Interesse für das Thema dieses Buches ist die Frage, wie wirksam diese Normen und Standards für den Erfolg von Projekten sind (Abschn. 2.3) und wo mögliche Quellen der Verschwendung im Projektmanagement liegen (Abschn. 2.4). Dies gibt den Blick frei für Ansatzpunkte einer „Verschlankung“ des Projektmanagements, wie sie in „agilen Ansätzen“ vorgeschlagen werden (Abschn. 2.5). Diese Ansätze sollen auf ihre Beiträge und Grenzen für eine Minimierung von Verschwendungen im Projektmanagement kritisch überprüft werden. Damit wird zugleich deutlich, dass hier nicht die Position vertreten wird, „Lean“ und „Agile“ Projektmanagement seien deckungsgleich. Vielmehr wird „Lean Project Management“ hier als ein Ansatz konzipiert, der Potenziale zur Reduzierung von Verschwendung sowohl in „klassischen“ als auch in „agilen“ Vorgehensweisen bietet.

Polanyi differenziert Wissen, das auf persönlicher Erfahrung beruht und daher nur schwer kommunizierbar ist (implizites Wissen) von Wissen, das in Sprache formalisier- und damit kommunizierbar ist (explizites Wissen). Diese Unterscheidung hat später Ikujiro Nonaka (1991; Sage et al. 2014) aufgegriffen, um aufzuzeigen, wie Wissen in Unternehmen verbreitet und transformiert wird – in Form von Interaktionen zwischen beiden Wissensformen (Sozialisierung, Externalisierung, Internalisierung, Kombination).
