Praxisbericht: Wenn „offen“ auch innovativ ist: Arbeiten in einem Software-Start-up und in einem Open-Source-Projekt

Zusammenfassung

Innovationsfähigkeit ist heute für viele Unternehmen ein Muss, um wettbewerbsfähig zu bleiben. Unternehmen öffnen sich daher zunehmend nach außen und im Inneren der Organisation. So können mehr Ideen generiert sowie bearbeitet werden und die Wahrscheinlichkeit, innovativ zu sein, steigt. Mehr Offenheit braucht aber auch neue stabilisierende Mechanismen, damit aus „offen“ nicht „unverbindlich“ wird. Der Beitrag zeigt zwei Beispiele offener Organisationen auf, das Schweizer Software Start-up rocklog GmbH und das Open-Source-Software-Entwicklungsprojekt Arch Linux. Beide Organisationen zeichnen sich durch eine Anzahl Besonderheiten aus, die sie von traditionellen Unternehmen grundlegend unterscheidet. Es wird weitgehend auf eine formelle Organisation oder auf Führungsinstrumente verzichtet. Stattdessen nehmen das (Software-)Produkt und informelle Werte, Normen und Wissen einen zentralen stabilisierenden Stellenwert ein. Möglicherweise sind es gerade diese Charakteristika, welche Unternehmen dabei helfen können, ihre Innovationsfähigkeit zu stärken.
