Zusammenfassung
Es ist in heutigen Zeiten in Deutschland nahezu zur Selbstverständlichkeit geronnen, der Lebensmittelindustrie zumindest zu misstrauen, wenn sie nicht gar als allmächtige Manipulationsmaschine zu begreifen, die für die Zunahme von Adipositas oder Diabetes verantwortlich sei. Inzwischen ist diese Einstellung gegenüber „der Lebensmittelindustrie“ common sense, insbesondere bei sozial besser Gestellten, die überwiegend im Bio-Laden einkaufen und ihren Kindern Süßigkeiten vorenthalten. Ihre soziale Lebenslage definiert sich unter anderem über diesen Diskurs über die böse Lebensmittelindustrie und unterstreicht ihre soziale Distinktion gegenüber sozial schlechter Gestellten, die überwiegend froh sind, einstige Luxusgüter wie Schokolade oder Fleisch trotz ihres geringen Einkommens konsumieren zu können und somit auch am sozialen Wohlstand teilhaben können.
