Zusammenfassung
Dieses Kapitel verfolgt vier Lernziele:

Auf der Ebene des ganzen Buches soll es deutlich machen, in welchem spannungsreichen Verhältnis Handlungen und Strukturen in der Soziologie stehen. Wir schauen diese Spannung in Abschn. 2.1 an und lösen sie in Abschn. 2.2 auf.

Auf der Ebene der mediensoziologischen Debatten hilft uns, dass wir dafür ein Beispiel nutzen, das es ermöglicht, eine erste dieser Debatten genauer anzuschauen, nämlich den sogenannten Konstruktivismus, in Abschn. 2.3.

Auf der Ebene des ersten Teils, den es eröffnet, soll es deutlich machen, warum der Rest dieses Akteursteils in das Tripel aus Motivationen, Ressourcen und Erwartungen gegliedert ist. Sie lernen in Abschn. 2.4 die Spieltheorie als theoretische Methode kennen, die mediensoziologisch zum Beispiel innerhalb der Netzwerkanalyse verwendet wird (z. B. Diekmann et al. 2014), und die wir noch als Grundlage verwenden zum Verständnis von Normen und später von Institutionen (Kap. 6) und sozialem Wandel (Kap. 9).

Für all dies verwenden wir in erster Linie das Beispiel der Konvention, die wir in Abschn. 2.2 genauer anschauen.
