Constructing an Empirically Grounded Framework
The reconstitution of state and societal relations in light of the development of new Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) (Raupp, 2011, p. 75) have increased the popularity of public sphere approaches. In relation to the events, which unfolded in 2010/2011, scholars engaged with the concept in relation to new media (Shirky, 2011; Ben Moussa, 2013; Faris, 2013;), the transformation of media systems (Webb, 2014) and social movements (see the Special Issue of Mediterranean Politics, Asseburg & Wimmen, 2015).
