Abstract
The discussion of homosexualities in the public sphere as part of a negotiation of gender in Tunisia constitutes a complex relation that weaves together issues of security and visa regulations, sexuality, morals, and citizenship and would require a specific in-depth study. In this regard, concepts of “homonationalism” and “gay assimilations” come into focus in Western knowledge production, where the “war on terror” has opened new windows of opportunity for homosexual subjects to be strategically integrated into the national discourse (Puar, 2009).
