Zusammenfassung
Die Saatgutkeimung, mikrobielle Aktivitäten und das Aufkommen von Bränden in Wäldern werden durch vorherrschende Bedingungen bestimmt. Aktuell gibt es einen Mangel an Informationen bezüglich der zeitlichen und räumlichen umweltbezogenen Bedingungen in Wäldern und ihrer Gesundheit. Bestehenden Überwachungssystemen fehlt es an der Sammlung von Echtzeitdaten in bewaldeten Ökosystemen. Diese Studie wurde in der Usambara-Reservation in Tansania durchgeführt, einer Gegend mit hoher Biodiversität. Wir schlagen die Entwicklung eines umfassenden Modells für eine Echtzeitüberwachung der Waldtemperatur und -feuchtigkeit durch die Nutzung eines kabellosen Netzwerksystems (WSN). Wir entwickeln ein Paketweiterleitungsprotokoll, einen Schlaf-Wach-Algorithmus und eine Datenbank zum Speichern von Daten. Datenwissenschaftstechnologien werden zur Datenanalyse verwendet. Das Modell befähigt den Einsatz von Entscheidungs- und Frühwarnsystemen für Waldbrände, Regenarationsprogramme, Biodiversitätsmanagement und Niederschlagswerten. Wir erwarten, dass das Projekt die laufenden Kosten dramatisch reduziert, bei gleichzeitiger Optimierung der Datenqualität und der operationalen Effizienz.
