Zusammenfassung
Die diskutierten RBeG-Instrumente wurden nur mangelhaft validiert, in der Regel von Personen und/oder Institutionen, die am Entwicklungsprozess beteiligt waren. Die zwei besprochenen SPJ-Checklisten – VERA und MLG – fußen hauptsächlich auf anekdotischen Evidenzen und Urteilen von konsultierten Anwendern. Signifikante Korrelationen oder radikalisierungsrelevante Kausalitäten konnten von den Instrumentenentwicklern kaum aufgezeigt werden. Als Heiliger Gral der RBeG wird daher das SPJ-Verfahren dargeboten, auch wenn sich das Verfahren in Ermangelung empirisch fundierter Risikofaktoren als stumpfes Schwert erweist.

„In order to understand why and how IS-plots occur in Europe, and how to reduce the threat, we need to acknowledge that the main drivers lie outside Europe, in Middle Eastern conflict zones, and pertain to Western interference in those conflict zones. We also need to pay special attention to network dynamics: the interplay between local European extremist networks and armed groups in war zones – facilitated through foreign fighting“ (Nesser et al. 2016, S. 6).

„As individuals, cliques, and groups become more insular, common mechanisms of cognitive bias, such as groupthink, in-group/out-group bias, and diffusion of responsibility, set in, convincing individuals that the alleviation of community grievances and the amelioration of threats to community survival will only occur through violent action. This lends support to extant research that views radicalization as a process where non-ideological sources of personal vulnerability, such as traumatic experience (e.g. the loss of a loved one), distant or broken familial relationships, or group disparagement, combine with ideological drivers, which are often present in the group context, to produce violent expressions of political or social grievance“ (Jensen et al. 2016, S. 72).
