Zusammenfassung

Mediatization refers to an everyday experience characterized by the saturation by (predominantly digital) media into each and every social domain, which, in the process of doing so, contributes to their transformation. More specifically, it refers to the relationship between the transformation of media and communication on the one hand and culture and society on the other (Couldry/Hepp 2013: 197). With reference to everyday experience it can be said that mediatization has ›quantitative‹ as well as ›qualitative‹ effects.
