Zusammenfassung

Dieser Beitrag beleuchtet die transatlantische Partnerschaft unter dem spezifischen Fokus der EU-US-Beziehungen. 2009 war ein Jahr des Wandels auf beiden Seiten des Atlantiks. Nach einer retrospektiven Skizzierung der EU-USBeziehungenwird zunächst der Wandel auf europäischer Seite durch den Vertrag von Lissabon sowie dessen Implikationen für das euroatlantische Verhältnis analysiert. Im Folgenden wird dargelegt, dass die Beziehungen auch nach dem beiderseitigen Wandel durch Kooperations-, aber auch Friktionspotenzial geprägt sind. Ausgehend von der These, dass die europäische Seite den Schlüssel zur weiteren Gestaltung der euroatlantischen Partnerschaft in Händen hält, werden abschließend Empfehlungen zur wirksamen Ausgestaltung des Verhältnisses zwischen EU und USA gegeben.
