Zusammenfassung

Der Beitrag beschäftigt sich mit den sino-amerikanischen Beziehungen, benennt – nach Priorität geordnet – zentrale Spannungsfelder der bilateralen Beziehungen und zeigt grundlegende Aspekte der chinesischen Außenpolitik seit Einleitung der Reform- und Öffnungspolitik in der VR China im Jahre 1978, die auf die bilateralen Beziehungen zwischen China und den USA Einfluss nehmen. Die Entwicklung der sino-amerikanischen Beziehungen wird sodann unter dem Gesichtspunkt aktueller Veränderungen der US-Chinapolitik nach Obamas Amtsübernahme im Januar 2009 beleuchtet.
